Plant from autumn to spring in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Space plants 15-20cm apart (5-7 per metre) for low hedging and edging. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish roots. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in spring. Trim 2-3 times during the growing season (late spring, mid-summer, and early autumn) to maintain shape and encourage dense growth. Box responds excellently to regular clipping and can be shaped into various topiary forms. Mulch around the base to retain moisture.
