Acer Palmatum: Bloodgood

Bloodgood is one of the larger bushy Japanese maples. Its deep red and purple leaves have slender pointed lobes. The leaves turn from a deeper colour in spring and summer to a vivid red in autumn before falling. During spring there are small purple flowers that are followed up by deep red fruits in summer. This acer is highly popular and for a good reason as it makes a great feature in the garden. It generally likes a sheltered spot with partial or full sun.
