Acer Palmatum: Skeeter's Broom

'Skeeter's Broom' is a stunning red Japanese maple. It is on the smaller side of the acer family and has a narrow upright growing habit. Its narrow sharp five lobed leaves emerge in spring as a very vivid red. This colour then matures towards a deeper purple in summer and returning to a bright ruby red in autumn. Ideally it likes to be in a sheltered spot with full sun or partial shade.
