Planting Instructions
Plant Kiwi ‘Solissimo’ (Actinidia chinensis) in a warm, sheltered, sunny position with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Provide a strong pergola, trellis or wire support for this vigorous climber. Avoid frost pockets and waterlogged ground.
Water the pot before planting. Dig a hole wider than the rootball and plant at the same depth as in the pot. Backfill, firm gently and water thoroughly. Tie shoots loosely to the support and apply mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the stem.
Water during dry spells, particularly while establishing and during fruit development. Protect young shoots from late frosts. Train the main stems onto the support and manage vigorous growth with seasonal pruning.
