James Grieve Apple Tree - Malus Domestica

Grow the reliable James Grieve apple, perfect for difficult locations. This is a great option for gardens in challenging locations, being a reliable and hardy variety with consistent and heavy crops. The apples are yellow with speckled and striped deep orange-red patterns, creating an attractive appearance. The fruit has a softer texture and is both juicy and tangy in flavour. As a tree, it performs better in more northern areas, making it ideal for Scottish and northern English gardens.

Plant in autumn or early spring in moist, well-drained, fertile soil enriched with organic matter. Position in full sun in a sheltered spot if possible. Plant with another apple in group 3 (such as Cox's Orange Pippin, Discovery, or Katy) for cross-pollination. Water regularly during the first two growing seasons and during dry spells in summer. Feed with a balanced fertiliser in early spring. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Prune in winter when dormant to maintain shape and encourage fruiting.
