Planting Instructions
Plant bare root Wild Privet between November and March while dormant. Privet is adaptable and will grow in most soils including chalk and clay, in full sun or partial shade. It tolerates urban pollution and exposed sites well.
Space 3–5 plants per metre for a dense hedge. Soak roots for 1–2 hours before planting. Dig a hole wide enough to spread roots without bending, plant to the nursery mark depth, firm in well and water thoroughly.
Trim twice yearly — once in early summer after flowering and again in late summer — to maintain shape and encourage dense bushy growth. Water during dry spells in the first growing season.
