Wildlife & Ecological Notes

Berberis thunbergii provides excellent wildlife value. Yellow spring flowers are a valuable early nectar source for bees and pollinators. The bright red berries produced in autumn and winter are eaten by birds including thrushes and blackbirds. The dense, spiny structure provides secure nesting and roosting sites for birds. A great choice for wildlife-friendly boundary planting.
