Growing Conditions
Camellias prefer a sheltered position in partial shade with moist, well-drained, acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Avoid exposed, frost-pocket sites and alkaline soils. Ideal for woodland-edge gardens, walled enclosures, and sheltered urban plots.
Planting Tips
Plant in spring or early autumn. Avoid planting in full sun or in positions where morning frost can damage early buds. Mulch generously around the base to retain moisture and protect roots. Water regularly during dry spells in the first two seasons.

Planting Instructions
Plant in spring or early autumn in moist, well-drained acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Camellias prefer a sheltered position in partial shade — avoid exposed frost pockets and positions where morning sun can strike frosted buds, which causes petal scorch.
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and to the same depth as the pot. Backfill with ericaceous compost mixed with the excavated soil, firm in well, and water thoroughly. Do not plant too deeply — the root ball should sit level with the surrounding soil.
Mulch generously around the base with bark or leaf mould to retain moisture and maintain soil acidity. Water regularly during dry spells in the first two growing seasons. Feed with an ericaceous fertiliser in spring after flowering. Light pruning after flowering will maintain the trained canopy shape.
