Ceanothus repens thrives in full sun with excellent drainage. Plant in spring or early summer to allow good establishment before winter.
- Plant in full sun with excellent drainage for best flowering and longevity
- Avoid heavy, wet, or waterlogged soils — Ceanothus dislikes sitting in moisture
- No feeding required — lean soils encourage better flowering
- Dig a planting pit twice the width of the pot and the same depth; backfill without added fertiliser
- Water in well after planting; thereafter water sparingly — drought tolerance improves with age
- Mulch with gravel around the base to keep the crown dry and suppress weeds
- Lightly trim after flowering to maintain shape; avoid cutting into old wood as it does not regenerate well
