Wildlife & Ecological Notes
Crataegus × media 'Paul's Scarlet' is highly attractive to bees and other pollinators during its May flowering period. Hawthorns are among the most ecologically valuable garden trees, supporting over 300 insect species. Dense thorny branches provide excellent nesting habitat for garden birds. Small red haws in autumn, where produced, are taken by thrushes, finches, and waxwings. A superb choice for wildlife-friendly ornamental planting.
