Cupressocyparis Leylandii — Large Specimen, Instant Impact

The Leyland Cypress is Britain's most popular hedging conifer — and for good reason. Fast-growing, dense, and evergreen year-round, it delivers privacy, wind protection, and a clean architectural backdrop with minimal effort.

This large 35–45 litre container-grown specimen gives you an immediate head start, arriving well-established and ready to perform from the moment it goes in the ground.

Key Features

  • Growth rate: Up to 90cm per year under good conditions
  • Mature height: 15–20m if left unclipped; easily maintained at any height with annual trimming
  • Foliage: Dense, feathery, mid-green — holds colour through winter
  • Container size: 35–45 litre pot — substantial root system, minimal establishment time
  • Evergreen: Year-round screening and wind protection

Ideal Uses

Leyland Cypress excels as a formal hedge, boundary screen, or windbreak. It thrives in exposed coastal and rural positions where other hedging plants struggle, and responds well to clipping into a tight, formal profile.

Planting Guide

Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Space plants 60–90cm apart for a dense hedge. Water well during the first growing season to establish. Trim once or twice a year — ideally in late spring and early autumn — to maintain shape and encourage density.

Supplied as a healthy, container-grown specimen from Stoneybrook Nursery. Ready to plant on arrival.
