Planting Instructions
Plant in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil in partial shade. A sheltered position protected from cold, desiccating winds is essential — avoid exposed or frost pocket sites. Edgeworthia performs best in woodland garden conditions or in the lee of a wall or larger shrub that provides protection.
Water well during the first growing season to aid establishment. Once settled, it is relatively low-maintenance. Apply a mulch of leaf mould or composted bark annually in autumn to retain moisture and protect the roots. Avoid pruning unless essential — the natural tiered branching is part of its ornamental appeal.
