Growing Guidance

Purple beech thrives in full sun, which intensifies the depth of the purple foliage colour. Tolerates most well-drained soils including chalk, but dislikes waterlogged conditions. Hardy throughout the UK. Best positioned as a standalone specimen where the canopy can be fully appreciated — in a lawn, at the end of a vista, or as a focal point in a large border. Stake well at planting and water through the first growing season.
