Planting Instructions
Plant 3–5 bare root whips per metre for a dense, stock-proof hedge. Dig a trench or individual holes wide enough to accommodate the roots without bending. Set plants at the same depth as the soil mark on the stem.
Firm soil around the roots to remove air pockets and water in thoroughly. Apply a 5–8 cm mulch of bark or compost around the base, keeping it clear of the stem, to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Trim back the top third of growth after planting to encourage bushy, lateral growth from the base.
Bare root plants should be planted between November and March while dormant. If planting is delayed, heel plants into moist soil or keep roots wrapped and moist in a cool, frost-free location. Water during dry spells in the first growing season.
