Planting Instructions
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil enriched with organic matter. Liquidambar prefers fertile, moisture-retentive soil and does not thrive in shallow chalk or very dry conditions. Shelter from strong winds where possible, particularly when young. Mulch generously around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Water regularly during the first two growing seasons to establish a deep root system. Once established, Liquidambar is largely self-sufficient. Minimal pruning is required - remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches in late winter while the tree is dormant.
