Planting Instructions
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Full sun produces the most vivid golden cane colour. Dig a hole twice the width of the pot, backfill firmly, and water thoroughly. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Important: Phyllostachys aurea is a running bamboo. Install a root barrier at least 60cm deep if planting in a contained space, or allow natural spreading in larger gardens. Plant 1–1.5m apart for a dense privacy screen. Water regularly during the first growing season. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser. Thin old canes annually to maintain vigour and show the golden stems to best effect.
