Care While Indoors
Keep your living Christmas tree in the coolest room possible and away from direct heat sources such as radiators and open fires. Water regularly — the rootball should never dry out. Limit time indoors to no more than 2–3 weeks for best results.
After Christmas
Acclimatise the tree gradually to outdoor temperatures before planting into a sheltered, sunny or partially shaded spot in well-drained soil. Alternatively, keep in a large container with quality loam-based compost and repot every 2–3 years. Fully hardy throughout the UK.

Planting Instructions
After the festive season, acclimatise gradually to outdoor temperatures over 7-10 days before planting. Move to a cool porch first, then outside in a sheltered spot before planting into its final position.
Plant in a sunny to partially shaded, sheltered position in well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball. Backfill, firm gently, and water thoroughly. Water regularly during the first growing season.
Alternatively, keep in a large container with quality loam-based compost and repot every 2-3 years. Feed with a slow-release fertiliser in spring.

Eventual height: 20-30 metres when planted in the ground. Growth rate: moderate, approximately 30-60cm per year once established outdoors.

Picea abies provides excellent wildlife value once established. Its dense evergreen canopy offers year-round shelter and nesting habitat for birds including goldcrests, coal tits, and sparrowhawks.
The cones provide a food source for crossbills, siskins, and squirrels. Bark and branches support a range of invertebrates, which in turn attract insectivorous birds.
