Picea pungens ‘Glauca Globosa’ Quarter Standard – Blue Spruce Topiary

A striking and unusual topiary form — the dwarf blue spruce ‘Glauca Globosa’ trained as a quarter standard. The intensely silver-blue, densely packed needles of this compact cultivar sit atop a clean, upright stem, creating a sculptural lollipop form with year-round colour and texture. A premium specimen for containers, formal schemes, and contemporary garden design. This particular form stands approximately 90cm tall above the pot with a clear stem of 60cm.

What Makes This Specimen Special

  • Intense silver-blue needle colour — one of the most striking conifers available
  • Dwarf ‘Glauca Globosa’ cultivar forms a naturally tight, rounded head
  • Quarter standard training creates a clean, architectural lollipop silhouette
  • Fully evergreen — bold colour and structure throughout the year
  • Slow-growing and long-lived — a genuine investment specimen

Growing Guidance

Picea pungens ‘Glauca Globosa’ thrives in full sun, which intensifies the silver-blue needle colour. Tolerates most well-drained soils and is fully hardy throughout the UK. Excellent in large containers on terraces or flanking entrances, and equally effective as a focal point in a gravel or formal garden. Requires minimal pruning — remove any shoots that break the rounded head profile as needed.

Supplied By Stoneybrook Nursery
