Growing Conditions
Position & Soil
Thrives in full sun to partial shade. Prefers well-drained soil but tolerates a wide range of conditions including clay, chalk, and exposed sites. Best berry production in full sun.
Height & Spread
Mature height: 2-4m (6.5-13ft). Spread: 2-3m (6.5-10ft). Can be maintained at smaller sizes with regular clipping or trained against walls and fences.
Care & Maintenance
Pruning
Trim lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage berry production. Can be clipped for formal hedging. Avoid heavy autumn pruning to preserve berries.
Hardiness
Fully hardy (RHS H5). Suitable for most UK gardens, tolerates temperatures down to -15°C and coastal exposure.
