Planting Instructions
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Salix babylonica thrives in moisture-retentive ground and is particularly well suited to waterside planting beside ponds, streams, or in low-lying areas. It will also establish in well-watered garden soil.
Dig a generous planting hole at least twice the width of the root ball. Backfill with the original soil, firm well, and stake securely with a substantial stake and tie to support the large canopy. Water in thoroughly after planting.
Important: Weeping Willow is a large tree at maturity and should be planted well away from drains, pipework, and building foundations. A minimum clearance of 20m from underground services is recommended. Not suitable for small gardens.
Mulch around the base to retain moisture. Water regularly for the first two seasons until fully established.
Size & Specification
Supplied as a large specimen in a 50 litre pot, approximately 3–3.5m tall at time of supply, with a well-developed weeping canopy providing immediate impact on planting.
Mature height is typically 10–15m with a spread of 8–12m. Growth rate is fast, adding 1–2m per year in good conditions. Suited to spacious gardens, parkland, and waterside settings only.

Supplied as a large pot-grown specimen (50 litre pot, 3–3.5m tall). Delivered by pallet due to size and weight. Please ensure suitable access for a pallet vehicle and that someone is available to receive the delivery.

Wildlife & Ecological Notes
Willows are among the most ecologically valuable trees in the UK. Salix babylonica produces catkins in early spring providing an early pollen and nectar source for bumblebees, honeybees, and solitary bees before most other trees are in flower.
The foliage supports numerous moth larvae and a wide invertebrate community that in turn attracts insectivorous birds and bats. Waterside specimens provide additional habitat value for aquatic wildlife and nesting birds.
