Planting Instructions
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Flamingo Willow produces its most vivid pink and cream spring foliage in full sun — shade will reduce colour intensity. Tolerates most soil types but prefers consistent moisture.
Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and to the same depth. Backfill with the original soil, firm well, and stake the standard stem securely. Water in thoroughly and mulch around the base to retain moisture, keeping mulch clear of the stem.
Prune lightly in late winter or early spring to maintain a balanced canopy and encourage the fresh, colourful new growth that gives this tree its greatest display. Remove any plain green reverted shoots promptly to maintain the variegated character.
Feed with a balanced slow-release fertiliser in spring. Water regularly during dry spells, particularly in the first two seasons after planting.
