Magnolia 'Heaven Scent'
Magnolia 'Heaven Scent'
Magnificent in every sense, Magnolia 'Heaven Scent' is one of the most celebrated magnolias in cultivation — and its name says it all. In spring, this elegant multi-stem tree produces a profusion of large, goblet-shaped flowers in rich pink-purple with a paler interior, each one releasing a powerful, sweet fragrance that fills the garden. A true architectural specimen that commands attention from the moment it comes into bloom.
Why Choose Heaven Scent?
- Intensely fragrant spring flowers — large, goblet-shaped blooms in rich pink-purple
- Elegant multi-stem habit — exceptional architectural presence year-round
- One of the most free-flowering magnolias available — blooms reliably from a young age
- Deciduous with a graceful, open canopy — beautiful structure even in winter
- A premium specimen tree for lawns, borders, and statement planting schemes
- Long-lived and low maintenance once established
Growing Conditions
Plant in a sheltered position in full sun to partial shade, in moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. Avoid exposed or frost-prone sites as late frosts can damage early blooms. Minimal pruning required — remove dead or crossing branches after flowering. Mulch annually to retain moisture and protect roots.

Planting Instructions
Plant in a sheltered position in full sun to partial shade. Choose a spot protected from cold winds and late spring frosts, which can damage early blooms. Magnolias prefer moist, well-drained, humus-rich, neutral to acid soil. Avoid thin chalky or waterlogged ground.
- Dig a planting hole 2–3 times the width of the root ball and the same depth
- Incorporate plenty of organic matter or well-rotted compost into the backfill
- Position the tree so the root flare sits at or just above soil level
- Water in thoroughly after planting and keep well-watered during the first growing season
- Apply a deep mulch of bark or compost around the base, keeping it clear of the trunk
- Stake if needed in an exposed position for the first year
